Pants on fire

I totally lied saying that I would do a post as soon as I got back from NYC, because obviously that never happened. School happened, and extra-curriculars happened, social life happened, and lots of other shananigans happened to say the least!
ANYWAYS it really is time for a new post.
Sooooooo I did have one full day in NYC in early September. I really did want to take some Sartorialis-esque street shot photos, but its kinda hard doing that when you have to pack the things you want to do all in one day!
SoHo was amazing as per usual. My sister and I were the first ones inside Topshop that morning, where there was some pretty great stuff. I was especially impressed with their accessories with all their great pendants, earrings, rings and bags. There were some great items that we found there. I found a pair of ballet flats which are literally to die for. They're not your regular ballet flats, no, these have gone one step further. They have ribbons attached to them, so that they look like pointe shoes! You haven't seen real ballet flats til you've seen these. They're the real deal.
Next door to Topshop was this fantastic store called Madewell, which I had never really heard anything about, except that fashion icon Alexa Chung is doing a line there. There where some amazing pieces of clothes in there. They were pretty much basics with a kick; some glitter here, a zipper there. It was great!
A trip to the Guggenheim, and a Billy Elliot evening performance later, our time in THA City was up and we hopped back into our mini van to return to T.

The cat came back

Hello all! So yes, I have very much been MIA for the past month. I've been canoeing through northern Ontario and Mid-Manitoba on the Berens and Pigeon Rivers for about three weeks, and it was a trip of a lifetime! So many great memories that I'll never forget! So, I thought that since I couldn't exactly report on really anything from the middle of the wilderness, I took some pictures of my friends' trip outfits and my trip outfit, just to give you a taste of what we were wearing for the month.

There's me on the left, Emma in the middle, and Meaghan on the side. All of us looking mighty fine in our trip apparel!

It feels good to be back in T. Even though there is really nothing much better than the feeling of being out in the remote wilderness of Canada, there is just something comforting about the city air (minus the summer muggy-ness), and being surrounded by so many different things, and having endless possibilities.
Today I was catching up on all my fashion news, and I was reading the September issue of Vogue, when I came across a column of celebrities wearing floral clothing by a CANADIAN designer, named Erdem. I had never heard of him, and as soon as my eyes went across the word "Florals", I dropped the magazine (well, slight exaggeration. I had to finnish reading it so my sister wouldn't snag it) and hopped onto the computer to do some investigating. I looked at some of his past shows, and I was extremely impressed. Not just with all the floral pieces, but he uses such amazing prints and patterns, beautiful colours and fabulous cuts of dresses. I had only wish I had known about him earlier.

The dress on the left is from his Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, and the right is from his Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection. Both stunning pieces!

I literally just came home yesterday, but as school is soon approaching, my whole family is taking a trip down to the Big Apple to drop off my older brother at school, as well to check out the US Tennis Open. It will be fantastic! Summer sales, brand new fall clothing! We only have one full day in the city, so my sister and I will be hitting up SoHo where I'm sure we'll do some stellar shopping, and while I'm down there, I plan on doing some Sartorialist-esque street fashion shots! I think you've got a first legitimate post coming your way. So stick around! New York is always full of surprises.

How I wish I was legal!

I know, I know, a new post has been long overdue! Here goes nothing!
So tonight my older sister and her friend were going out to one of their favourite clubs for a friends birthday! And I figured, "Hey, I can't go out with them (being 16 and all(for those readers in the states the legal age in Ontario is 19)), why don't I put my fashion abilities to work and style them! And obviously I had to incorporate some florals in there! So my entire wardrobe was up for grabs for the night and not going to lie, but the girls definitely had some good pieces to wear! So I put my sister's friend Lauren in an outfit from my closet, which I think is absolutely chic! I put her in a See By Chloe tank, with an American Eagle vest (don't hate, but the vest was adorable!), and a Talula skirt! With that she used her own accessories and wore a gold heart pendant with a great H&M leather shoulder purse, and some fringey sandals! Check out her outfit in the picture!
Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of my sister on my camera, but she wore my floral (surprise!) skirt from Forever 21 (amazing place!) with a Talula tube top, and accessorized with a vintage Gucci shoulder purse and some great flats!
I was uber jealous that I couldn't go out, but hey, to all the teenage readers out there too, our time will come soon, where we can party like we pretend we know what 1999 was like!
PS please ignore the messy room in the back! They were in a rush, and I just had to get a shot!

Welcome!

If you asked me to describe my style in one word, I would say: Florals. I live and breathe for floral clothing items! Recently I counted the amount of flower-patterned clothing items I own, and it came to around twenty. It’s all sort of ironic. A few years ago, my mum would always try to get me to wear some sort of floral piece of clothing, and I simply said to her, “You would never catch me dead in flowers.” And here we are, a sixteen-year-old girl, trying to get a jump-start on her aspiration to become a fashion journalist. A girl who you will almost always catch sporting a floral in whatever shape or form. But for those of you who are still reading, this blog won’t just be about the blooming clothes flowing out of my dresser. No, this blog is about local and international trends, fashions, events…you name it! Maybe even some common interest! So stick around…who knows…maybe I eventually will get sick of florals… but probably not.
